Can you say, “No?”
I just read a great article from the folks at “Good.” This blog post (and responses) focuses on the importance of saying “No” so you can say “Yes” to the truly important things in your life.
Of course, it’s up to each person to figure out what is truly important in their life. And, as difficult as that can be… that’s the easy part. The really tough part comes in making time for it once you do figure it out.
I have to admit, I struggle with this all the time. I don’t say “no” enough to things at the office… leading to me spending way too much time on what’s in front of me than what is truly important. It happens at home too. If I spent half as much time working on Philanthropegie as I did watching TV, we would have a lot more resources and a lot more registered users.
I’m one of those “cup is half full” guys, though… seeing this as a journey. I remind myself of the times I do make the right choices and…and that each day presents a new opportunity to say “no” to what gets in the way of you doing what is truly important in your life.
So, what is it for you? What is it that you know, deep down, is the truly important thing in your life?
And… what will you say “no” to so that you can then say “yes?”
