Thursday, 13 September @ 10:57 AM

Brilliant Earth was co-founded by Beth Gerstein and Eric Grossberg, who met at Stanford University. When Beth was about to be engaged, she experienced firsthand, with her fiancé Alex, the challenge of finding a conflict free engagement ring that represented her values. Eric, through his research at Stanford, became impassioned with the idea that responsibly-sourced jewelry could be an effective tool for social change in developing countries.

What began as a partnership between two entrepreneurs has grown into a community of people with a passion for fine jewelry and a commitment to change.  Beyond being conflict free, Brilliant Earth provides diamonds that are free from all types of violence, such as torture and rape committed by government militarie’s by tracking them from mine to market to ensure that they are mined, cut, and polished in a socially and environmentally responsible manner.

Their overall objective is to invest in long-term community development in regions that can support a self-sustaining jewelry-based economy. To achieve this, they combine best practices in the jewelry trade with research-based funding efforts. Their ongoing initiatives help shape a rewarding and self-sufficient future for families who depend on the jewelry trade.
